Part 2 (note: i will be skipping days. This is intentional and not a mistake :) )

Next day (Siege Day 1)
As the next morning dawned, a renewed sense off urgency came with it. Everyone at the Duke Farm, after a fitfull night of trying to sleep, was up and moving. Daisy, even though she was upset, decided that it would be better if she went on to work this morning. To make sure she got there safe, Jesse told her he would go along with her.
"Luke, Rosco called and said he wants you at the Police Station ASAP," Jesse told his nephew as Luke came out of his bedroom.
Luke nodded as he put on his jacket. He hadn't slept well at all and it was clearly showing in his face. "Where are you off to," he asked his Uncle.
"Daisy decided to go to work, so i'm going with her to make sure she gets there alright. If you need me, give me a call on the CB." Jesse answered him and turned towards the door.
"Uncle Jesse." Luke said. Jesse stopped and turned around. "We'll get him back, i promise."
"I know, " Jesse said and gave Luke a hug before walking out to Daisy's Jeep.
After grabbing a cup of coffee, Luke hopped in the General and sped towards town. He got there several minutes later.
"Luke, you ain't going to like this," Rosco said by way of greeting, as Luke walked into the police station.
Luke frowned and sat down as Rosco gave him the wanted posters they had just recieved. Things were looking worse already.
The hideout was abuzz with it's own activity. James had gotten everyone up and gathered them together to go over the day's plans. James had included Bo in this and Bo was now standing along the back wall with Jennifer.
"Alright folks, listen up. I'm only saying this once. I think it would be a good idea if we left this place and moved somewhere else. So today, we're moving to the swamp. It has several good places to hide and it is to dangerous for anyone to try and track us there." James told them
"The Swamp!" everyone corused at once.
"Yes, you heard me. Now i want everything packed up and out in the next hour. Plus, i want everyone to be careful. I will be in the lead so you will follow me. Try not to get caught." he stopped again, briefly scanning the room. He looke over at Bo for a second. Bo looked down, trying to avoid his gaze. "The second thing is.." he broke off glaring at his son. "Since Frank went against orders and wrote a letter, I want him and David to go into town and tell the sheriff who and what they are dealing with. Ok, that's it. Now get to it." As soon as he had finished, everyone went to work.
About thirty minutes later, Frank and David pulled up in front of the police station. Before getting out, they got two guns out of the glove compartment and put them were they could get to them easily. When they walked into the building, Enos was the first to notice there arrival. He quickly got Luke and Rosco's attention. When Rosco saw them he new who they were and he nodded at Luke to let him know that they were part of the gang on the wanted posters.
Luke stood up and glared at the newcomers. "What have you done with Bo?" he asked sharply
Frank took out his gun and aimed it at Luke. Luke backed up slightly. David gave Frank a sharp look and Frank put the gun back in his pocket.
"Calm your feathers, plow boy and sit down," David told Luke
Luke, rather than possibly get his head blown off, did as he was told. This earned him a smile from David.
"What do you want?" Rosco asked.
David smiled again. "I was just getting to that," he said and went on. "We want to be able to go about our business without any problems from the law or you Dukes. And before you threaten me, i want you to know that if these demands are not met and you start to make our lives difficult, then Bo will be given back to you in a body bag and your town will be burned to the ground."
"You wouldn't dare," Luke said.
"We would and we will if you don't leave us alone," David told him and turned towards Frank. "Let's go," he said and when they both had gottent to the door, David turned back around. "Remember, you make a move and your cousin has had it. Until then he will be safe. He just won't like it when we make him help us in destroying your precious town." And with that David and Frank walked out of the Police Station.
Luke got up from his chair after they left and walked to the window. He stood there silently as he watched them get into their car and leave.
"We have to do something," Rosco said.
"Like what?!" Luke snapped "I'm fresh out of ideas." he added, looking at Rosco. Rosco only shrugged.
6:00pm.: The new hideout was a house that had been vacated years before by several people who had once lived in the swamps. It had about 6 rooms and was a better place than the last. In one of the rooms, the one that had been designated as Bo's, Jennifer's and Jason's, Bo sat on the floor alone eating a sandwich. Jennifer came in and before sitting down, closed the door behind her.
"You ok?" she asked
Bo looked at her. "More or less." he said after several seconds.
Jennifer sighed "Look, i want to go ahead and warn you. We are getting several more people in from Atlanta tomorrow. They are around my brothers age and are about as mean as he is, so watch your back. Another thing, i think dad plans to use you in a couple of days."
"Oh, yea!. Don't i feel special." Bo said sarcasticlly and went back to eating on his sandwich.
10:00p.m.: The Duke farm was solemn. Noone had said much off anything after Luke had told them the news earlier that afternoon. Luke was sitting on the couch trying to think when he heard a knock at the door. He got up and answered it. Rosco was standing there with another man Luke thought he recognized, but wasn't sure.
"Can we come in?" the man asked
"Sure," Luke said and let them enter.
Jesse, who had just come out of his bedroom, smiled at the new arrival. "Well, if it isn't Richard Smith," he said shaking hands with him.
"Hey Jesse," Richard said
"Who?" Luke asked. Daisy curious at to what was going on, came out of her bedroom as he asked the question.
Jesse chuckled. "I'm sure you remember me telling you about him at some point. Richard here works with the FBI. He's a Duke by marriage."
"Married to whom?" Rosco asked along with Luke and Daisy.
Jesse's smiled faded. "Bo's aunt," he said. ( Bo's mothers sister)
Noone said anything for several seconds. Then Richard broke the silence.
"I am sorry about Bo. However, i have been sent here to help. I was informed early this morning off what had happened and i've been sent here to see if i can't help. I think there is a way, even though it may take awhile, to get these guys in jail and save Bo and this town." he stopped for a second and went on when he saw everyone giving him their rapt attention. "The Sheriff here has let me take this investigation over and i need to ask everyone some questions" he finished.
Everyone nodded and for the next several hours they sat around explaining what they knew and Richard went over everything that the FBI knew. Around one everyone went to bed, feeling a little bit more relieved, however not knowing that things were going to get much worse before they got better. And all the efforts by everyone and the FBI wasn't going to do a bit off good.
Friday-(Day 4): By Friday, things had started to slid downhill. The FBI had had a run in with several gang members the previous night and in retaliation for that the jewelry store had been robbed and it and the Hazzzard Cafe had both been burned to the ground. So to keep everyone safe, a dusk till dawn curfew had been put into place. The FBI had been able to find the gang's previous hideout, but hadn't been able to locate the new one.
Things got a little out of hand when Boss Hogg arrived back in Hazzard around noon. He demanded to know what was going on and after being told he told them that he was in no way involved in this. Rosco, not believing him, ordered him placed under house arrest.
"Your doing what?" Boss exclaimed.
"I'm sorry Boss, but i don't believe you," Rosco told him saddly as Enos and one FBI agent carted him off to his house.
"You know, you didn't have to do that." Luke said. He had been standing there when Boss had come into the police station.
Rosco looked at him for several seconds. "Yes I did," he told him and added "Besides if the reason that this gang is here is because of something Boss did years ago or remtotly relating to that fact, then it will be alot safer for him if he's under gaurd."
Luke nodded "Yeah i quess your right," he said going to a chair and deflating in it. He briefly closde his eyes and sighed.
"Luke, are you alright?" Rosco asked concerned.
Luke didn't answer right away. "Not really," he finally said.
Rosco wasn't really sure how to comfort him. He wasn't that strong in that particular department. Rosco knew this was mostly his fault, but he also knew that things could have happened this way even if he hadn't blamed the two duke boys for the robbery.
"Things will eventually work out, Luke." he finally managed.
Luke looked at him. "I hope so, Rosco. I really hope so."
6:00p.m.: Bo was sitting on the floor lost in thought when Jennifer came into the room.
"You arent' thinking about escaping are you?" she asked by way of greeting.
Bo sighed and looked up at her. "Among other things, yes." he answered truthfully
"Bo..." Jennifer started but was cut off by Bo.
"Save it. I'm not going to. I've been to this particular house once before and i know it's to dangerous to go 10 feet in either direction." he told her. (quick sand and such)
Jennifer sighed in relief and sat down "Yeah, dad really picked a good one. There aren't any other homes in this part of the swamp for miles around." she said
Bo grunted and didn't answer. Nobody said anything else for a few minutes. Finally Bo spoke up.
"Your father has pretty much left me alone. Why?" he asked and then added "And why did he pick this town?"
Jennifer laughed and sighed "I'm not really sure. He has methods to his maddness and most of the time your left guessing about what they are. Don't let your guard down though, be ready for anything." she stopped for several seconds and then went on "As for why he picked this town, i don't really know that either. I think he's been here before and this could be the result of it, but i'm not entirely sure."
Bo nodded, for now accepting that answer. "How old are you?" he asked after a minute
Jennifer smiled "I turned 16 about a month ago. You?"
"Almost 20" Bo answered her and sighed
Jennifer drew her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. "You miss them don't you?" she asked before resting her chin on her knees.
Bo leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes. "Yeah. I wish this were all some sort of nightmare, but it ain't and knowing that and not knowing what's going to happen next is the worst part." he stopped and then added "And not seeing them is another."
"I know. I use to have a family life to," she said almost in a whisper
Bo opened his eyes and looked at her. She didn't notice him as she stared off into space.
"I've been in this gang for so long, sometimes i don't think it was real. My dad took us away from our mother when i was almost five and i haven't seen her since. I remember i loved her so much and i wish i could see her now. I wish i could leave here and run far away, but I can't." she stopped and then looked at Bo. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to go off like that."
Bo shook his head. "No, it's alright." he said and then added. "You know your lucky."
Jennifer frowned. "In what way," she asked
Bo smiled saddly. "At least you had a mother." he said and looked down. Jennifer wasn't sure what to say and finally decided not to say anything at all.
Saturday-(Day 5) around 9:00 a.m. In the swamp.
"The Feds didn't learn a damn thing from those torchings, they were all over us again last night. We're lucky noone got killed." Frank told his father angrily. "Hell, we're lucky no one is in jail at the moment"
"Frank, calm down." James told his son.
Frank didn't really want to here that "Shit dad, what the hell are we going to do about this?" he snapped.
James looked at his second in command, who shrugged and spoke up. "Frank, just calm down. We'll work this out. The good thing about all this is that noone got arrested." David told him.
Frank still resisted. "Look, let's make that kid Bo pay for this. Why don't we kill him and send him back to them in little tiny pieces. Maybe they'll listen this time. Or maybe we should burn a couple more buildings."
James reached back and slapped his son across the face. Frank winced and shut his mouth.
"Look kiddo, i'm running this show and we'll do what i say we do. Is that clear?" James snapped. Frank shook his head
"Good, now get out of here and let me talk to David." James told him.
Frank angrily left the room. James went and sat down at his desk. He looked up at his second in command.
"Well, what are your thoughts?" he asked David.
David smiled slightly. "I'm beginning to wonder what your trying to do. You don't seem to have a particular game plan." he said
James grunted. "I had a perfectly good plan, until the Feds showed up."
"Boss that hasn't ever stopped you before. You've destroyed several towns like this one before with the Feds around." David protested
James smiled and leaned back in his chair. "I know." he said
David crossed his arms "So, what are you planning on doing?"
"Well since i was trying to do this slowly, so they'd have to suffer, i'll start doing it faster." he stopped for a minuted as he collected his thoughts. "Go tell everyone to wait till tonight to do any of this. I want half the people to go to town and loot and burn a few stores. Don't and i repeat that Don't burn the whole town down. I only want to scare them a little bit more." he stopped again
"Is that it?" David asked
James shook his head. "Also let that group know that if anyone gets in there way that they are to shoot on sight. I don't care if its the feds or a townsperson. Then, i want Frank and a couple of men to go to the Duke farm and burn their barn down. I'll repeat that also, the barn is to be set on fire and not the house.I want you to go with him to make sure that he follows orders. Take Bo with you and make him watch, but don't let him get away from you." he stopped then went on. "That's it, now go tell everyone what to do."
David nodded and left.
10:00p.m. Duke farm
"So what's going on?" Jesse asked from his seat on the couch.
Luke, who had just come in from town with Richard, shrugged. "Not much of anything. It's relativly quiet right now."
Jesse sighed in relief "Thats good to hear." he said. Jesse was also relieved that it seemed Bo was alright since he hadn't been given back to them dead.
Luke had been thinking along the same lines, but he didn't say anything either. Luke had stopped sleeping in the room he and Bo shared about two nights ago and was now sleeping on the couch. He felt that he couldn't sleep in their room right now knowing that Bo might never come back. That thought really upset him. Luke didn't want to lose Bo and he silently swore again that he would do everything he could to get his younger cousin back.
As Richard and Jesse started to talk, Luke sat down on the sofa and closed his eyes.
11:00p.m. A hill overlooking the Duke farm.
5 figures stood in the darkness looking at the duke farm. One of them had his hands tied behind his back and had percked up when he saw his home, but his joy quickly turned to that of worry.
"Why are we here?" Bo asked
David turned to him "You'll find out," he said and turned to the other three people. "Frank, take Bill and Stephen. You know what to do."
Frank nodded and smiled and after getting a bag out of the trunk of the car he and the other two took off down the hill towards the farm.
Bo became increasingly worried and tried to get out of his ropes, but they were tied to tightly. "What are they going to do?" he asked.
David laughed. "Calm down. Your precious family will be unharmed. We're just torching your barn."
"No!!" Bo eclaimed "You can't do this."
David smiled and then hit Bo across the face. "We can do whatever we want kid. There's nothing you can do to stop us. Now shut up and watch."
11:15p.m. Duke farm
Daisy had just called and said she would be home around 1 and also told them not to worry that Enos was with her. Luke was asleep on the couch, the effect of hours of worrying and sleepless nights having taking its toll. Jesse, after covering him up with a blanket, moved into the kitchen to talk to Richard. Neither were aware of the three men in their barn and neither knew what was about to happen to their barn and to also those in town, was going to change their lives for the duration of the siege.
11:20-the barn
Frank had just finished throwing the carosene around. He know looked at the other two men with him. "Get out of here and go back up the hill. I'll be with you in a second." he said and the other two men nodded and left. Frank pulled out matchbook and took out a match. Backing up to the door, he struck the match and tossed it down on floor. Quickly closing the door, he ran back up the hill to watch the proceedings. The barn began to burn.
11:25-the house
Jesse sensed something was wrong. He didn't knwo what, but something just wasn't right. He told Richard he would be right back and got up from the kitchen table. Walking to the door he opened it and walked out onto the porch. He saw it then, the barn was on fire. He turned back to those in the house. "Fire!! The barn is on fire."
Luke awoke instantly and stood up. He ran outside and stood on the porch. Richard came out also. "Oh, god." Luke said, his sleepy mind trying to register things.
"I'll call the fire department." Richard said and then went back inside the house.
"Luke get the fire extinguishers." Uncle Jesse said franticly and walked off the porch.
Luke went back inside and came running back out seconds later. Richard followed about a minute later, having gotten the fire department. He quickly got a bucket and filled it with water. He then joined Luke and Jesse in fighting the fire, however their efforts were not doing any good and they all knew that it would take a while for the fire department to get here.
"Wait a minute!! The animals!" Luke cried
Jesse shook his head and shouted, trying to be heard over the fire. "They aren't in their. I tied Ma-Dean up somewhere else along with the rest of them. I thought something like this might happen sometime."
"Good thinking." Luke shouted back.
11:40-on the hill
Bo watched as his family tried in ernast to put out the fire. He was afraid of what was going to happen next. Would it be the house, his home. The only home he'd known for almost 20 years. He tried to loosen his ropes, but they wouldn't budg. David reached out and put a restraining hand on Bo's arm.
"Don't. You aren't going anywhere." he said
"You won't get away with this." Bo said glaring at him.
David only smiled. Then looked back down the hill, just as the firetruck was coming into the farmyard, followed seconds later by Rosco and Enos's patrol cars.
"This is definatly a nice show. To bad it isn't the house." Frank said out loud and looking at Bo. "I wonder what is happening in town." he added
David chuckled "I'll give our boys there a call and find out." he said walking towards the car.
"You son of a bitch." Bo thought and then noticed that noone was watching him. He backe up slowly and turned to run.
David happened to look up an notice what Bo was doing. "Frank!" he called
Frank turned around and saw what was going on. He took out his gun, aimed and fired. The bullet missed Bo by mere inches and hit the ground. Bo stopped in his tracks.
David reached him seconds later. With surprising speed he lashed out and struck Bo in the stomach. The force of the blow made Bo fall backwards onto the ground. David reached down and roughly pulled him to his feet. "You stupid kid." he said and then called back over his shoulder. "Frank. If you think you can hit someone from up here. Take out whoever the closest is."
"With pleasure" Frank said and aimed his gun. In the dim light he picked someone out. From here it looked like it could be Luke. "Say goodbye to your cousin."
Bo struggled in David's grasp. "No!! Luke!!! Look out!!" he screamed, hoping someone would here him.
"Dammit," David cussed and hit Bo across the face and then threw him to the ground. Unable to stop his fall, Bo hit the ground hard and in the process, hit his head also. He lost consciosness.
Frank had fired, but missed Luke. "Dammit!!" he cursed "I missed him"
David grunted angrily from where he stood over Bo's still form."Well, we don't have time to try again. There already on to us. We have to get out of here." he said.
The other three noddend in assent and got into the car. After David picked Bo up, he threw him in the car and jumped in himself and speed off.
The Farmyard-several minutes earlier:
Luke had been the only one to hear the first gunshot. As he looked up into the surrounding hills he saw nothing. Then came a scream that sounded remotly like Bo. Fearing he would get shot he took cover behind the General. A bullet hit seconds later where he had been standing. Everyone else heard the second shot and took cover themselves.
"What in the heck is going on?" Jesse exclaimed.
"We're being shot at!" Rosco exclaimed at the same time.
Luke looked at the others. "I think it's coming from over there," he said pointing to the hills and not adding that he had thought he heard Bo.
The waited for several minutes, but nothing else happened. As they got up to go help the firefighters, who had not taken cover with the rest of them, someone started talking frantically over the CB.
"Mayday, Mayday. This is FBI Agent Fox, calling anyone who can here me. We are under attack in town and need help badly!! I repeat we need help and we also need firefighters." then the radio was silent. Everyone looked at everyone else. Suddenly Richard ran for his car.
"Come on Sheriff!" he called over his shoulder. Rosco made some weird noise as he got into his car. They both sped off out of the farmyard. The firetruck followed close behind them.
"What is going on here?" Luke asked as he and the silent Daisy walked over to inspect the now smoldering barn. It was standing, but it still didn't look to good.
Jesse came over to stand by him. "I don't know, but since we can't do anything here until morning, why don't we go see if we can help in town." Jesse said and walked back to the General with Daisy in tow..
"Yeah," Luke said and looked up into the hills. "Cousin, if that was you. Thanks for the warning," he thought silently. Then he turned, got into the General and sped towards town. The war had begun
Around 1a.m.- the swamp.
Bo was sitting tied to a chair in front Jame's desk. He had woken up shortly before they had gotten back to the hideout and had been told that Luke was alright. Bo had been relieved, but that relief was short lived. He now looked up into the angry face of James and knew that he was in trouble.
"Dad, don't do anything rash," Jennifer said. She and Jason had come into the room to give Bo some support.
"Jennifer, leave the room. Now." James told her
Jason stepped in. "Look sir, he won't do it again. Please let him be."
James sighed. "Jason, if you don't want to end up like brother who died a couple of years ago, i suggest you leave." he said.
Jason closed his mouth and turned to leave.
"Died. You mean killed, don't you?" Jennifer snapped.
James had heard enough. He reached out and slapped his daughter. Jennifer flinched in pain.
"Hey!! Leave her alone." Bo said
James turned and raised his hand, but didn't slap him "You shut up. I'll deal with you in a second." he told him and then turned to his second in command, who was standing near the door.
"Escort these two out, " he said.
David nodded and pushed both Jennifer and Jason out the door. Closing the door, he locked it and came to stand behind Bo. James sat down on his desk and crossed his arms. Bo gulped, knowning he was in trouble.
"Well, what shall we do with you?" James asked
"How about we kill him." Frank said, speaking for the first time.
"No, not yet." James said standing up and standing menisingly over Bo "I do want to know why you decided to do what you did though." he said.
Bo looked down and didn't answer. David reached out and took hold of Bo's hair and pulled, forcing Bo to look at him. Bo bit his lip to keep from crying out.
"He asked you a question! Answer him," David snapped
"I..I don't know." Bo gasped.
James signalled to David and David let go off Bo's hair. James then hit Bo hard across the face. Bo winced in pain.
"You don't know." James repeated Bo's words. "Well i can tell you why. You wanted to get away. You wanted to leave our humble little family." he stopped and then went on "I'll tell you something farmboy, if you do that again, you will be dead or at least wishing you were."
"Why not now?" Frank asked and pulled out a whip from behind his back.
Bo's eyes went wide and he tried to struggle from the ropes. James held up his hand to his son.
"No. Nothing that harsh just now." he said and looked up at David. "Take him to a closet and throw him in there. Leave him in there until i tell you to take him out." he said
David nodded and took out a pocket knife. Reaching down he cut the ropes around Bo and then pulled him to his feet.
"Don't do this," Bo said as David pushed him out the door.
James sighed and rolled his eyes. "I can do anything I want kid." he said to Bo's back.
Next morning-Sunday, around 8:00a.m. Hazzard (Day 6)
It was an overcast morning and the weatherman had said it might rain. This did nothing, but make everyone's mood worse. A group stood outside of Police Headquartes and surveryed the damage that had been done in the middle of the night. The police station was okay except for a few broken windows, but there were several other buildings that had been broken into and looted. At least three buildings had been burned, but out of those three only one had been heavily damaged, the Hazzard Hotel had been almost completly burned down.
"How bad are the casulties?" Cooter asked Richard. Cooter was standing next to a very disheveled looking Luke.
Uncle Jesse and Daisy had gone back to the farm with an FBI agent and Enos hours earlier, but Luke had staid and he wasn't looking all that great. His hair was a mess and he had soot all over his face. His eyes looked tired and he had a blanket wrapped around him. Noone else in the group looked that great either. Boss Hogg was with them.
Richard sighed "We lost seven. 4 of those were my men, and the other 3 were civilians. There are at least 10 that are injured, three of those seriously."
"That bad," Luke said unnecassarily.
Boss Hogg spoke up. "Look, i'm not involved in this. You have to believe me." he said
"We know that now Mr. Hogg." Richard said
"Well then why are they doing this?" Rosco asked.
Richard ran a hand through his hair. "We're not sure of that. We think the gang doesn't know either. Chances are they were given orders and are just carrying them out." he said and turned as an agent came to speak to him. The agent held something in his hand. After speaking to him, Richard turned back to the group. "Luke, they searched the hill above your house."
Luke pearcked up. "What did they find"
"Some tire tracks and this," Richard said holding up a bag with one shot gun shell in it.
"They didn't..." Luke started but found he couldn't finish the sentence. He had told Richard about hearing Bo.
Richard shook his head and Luke breathed a sigh of relief.
"Now if you will excuse me, i have to go call Atlanta. Let's find a safe place later to talk about all this." Richard said and then walked off.
Rosco turned to Boss Hogg. "I'm sorry Boss," he said.
Hogg stared at him and grunted "Yeah that's fine Rosco," he said and then added "Come on, i'll take you home and Lulu can cook us breakfast." he said and then looked back at Cooter and Luke. "Cooter, I think you need to take Luke home." he told Cooter and then walked with Rosco to his car.
Cooter turned to Luke "I think he's right. Come on buddy." he told Luke, putting an arm of support around his friend and pulling him to the General.
"I'm alright Cooter," Luke protested, but didnt' break away from Cooter's supporting embrace.
"No, your not. And if you don't get some sleep you won't be helping Bo any by being tired." he said.
Luke did not protest. Both men got into the car and sped back towards the farm, leaving the ruin and death behind them.
4:30p.m. Cooter's Garage
Richard had called the meeting here thinking it was a safe place. As he, Luke, Cooter, Jesse, Daisy, Rosco,Enos and Boss Hogg sat around in various places they could all here the rain hitting the roof. Several armed FBI men were standing at the door and there were two more outside.
"Alright folks, lets talk." Richard said cutting into everyone's chatter. When he had everyone's attention he went on. "As you know things are getting out of hand here."
"I'll say," Rosco remarked.
Richard ignored him and went on. "I have talked with my boss in Atlanta and he is giving us a few more men, plus he has alerted the state police."
"What good is that going to do. Their (the bad guys) just gonna continue doing what they have been doing." Daisy protested.
Richard sighed "I know, but with reinforcements, I hope we can stop them a whole lot sooner."
"So what are we going to do?" Luke asked
"We hope we find their hideout soon and hope that we can arrest them somehow."Richard answered and then went on "I think we can get through this. We just have to be patient." Richard finished The thruth was he wasn't sure himself. He knew he was going to have to make a definate plan, and fast.
Everyone groaned, that was not what they wanted to here.
"And what do we do about getting Bo back?" Cooter asked
"I don't know that either." Richard answered.
That didn't help either. Richard convened the meeting shortly after that and everyone went their separate ways.
8:00p.m. The swamp
James opened the door to the closet and looked down at Bo, who was sitting on the floor and shielding his eyes against the harsh light.
"I'll let you out, on one condition." he said and then added "Well two actually."
It took Bo a minute to find his voice and when he did it sounded dry and scratchy "What are they?"
James smiled "One you don't do anything foolish. Two, if we ask you to do something, you do it. I don't care what it is. You will help us from now on. You got that??"
Not wanting to be in the closet any longer, Bo nodded.
James smiled again and helped Bo to his feet. "Now that's a good boy," he said and closed the closet door behind them.
Around 3a.m.-Duke farm (Lukes dream) (Early Monday--Day 7--second to the last week in October)
The duke family had gone to bed around one, after knowing that nothing bad was going to happen that night. Richard had made sure of that when he placed several armed FBI agents around the house and the surrounding countryside. Luke had laid down on the couch around 1:30 and had fallen asleep sometime after 2.
He was dreaming, and in the dream he was standing on one side of a covered bridge with Rosco and Richard. On the other side several gang members and Bo stood. The plan was to make a trade. Give them what they wanted and in return the gang would hand Bo over. Richard placed a bag in the center of the bridge and walked back to his side, shortly a man came and took it back to his leader and in keeping with the bargain, let Bo go. When Bo got to the center of the bridge, one of the gang members took out a gun and before anyone could do anything, shot Bo in the head. Bo fell to the ground, he was dead.
"BO!!!" Luke screamed and woke up. He sat straight up, sweating and breathing heavily. He hoped that he hadn't screamed out loud. When noone came out of their room, he knew he hadn't. Luke ran a shaky hand through his hair and sat on the edge of the couch, trying to get his breathing back to normal. After several minutes he manged to calm down enough to where his breathing was slower. After a few minutes, he laid back down and stared at the ceiling. He was near tears as he started thinking about the images in the dream. "Please God," he prayed, "Let us get him back alive. I,we, don't want to lose him." Unable to go back to sleep, Luke lay awake the rest of the night.
The rest of Monday and all of Tuesday went by without much happening. The FBI were in conference most of those two days, trying to figure out a solution, but by the end of Tuesday, did not come up with any good ones. Luke, sat in on some of the meetings, but finally after Richard told him to, went home and got a little bit of sleep. As soon as he was somewhat coherent, he, Jesse and Daisy tried coming up with some solutions of there own, but they to came up with dead ends.
For the most part, the gang (for lack of a better word), was quite also. They knew they had gotten through to the Hazzard people and stopped burning things for awhile. James mostly told everyone to relax a little and just mostly sell drugs. He had made Bo go out several times with his people when they did this and Bo never resisted. He knew he couldn't.
Around 10a.m. (Day 9--Wednesday) the swamp
There was a knock on James's office door.
"Come in," he said
David opened the door and came in. He closed it behind him.
"Good morning David." James told his second in command somewhat cheerfully. "What's your report."
David shrugged. "We're managing to get some pretty good cash from selling drugs. Ther are a bunch of kids that aren't obeying the curfew they have in place and are finding use and getting what they want." he said
"Sad," James said and added "Is Bo giving you any problems?"
David shook his head "No problems from him." he answered and then looked seriously at his leader. "Sir, if i may ask. What are you planning on doing next?"
James sat back in his chair and thought for a second. "We do nothing at the moment." he finally answered
David gave him a quizical look.
James sighed "Look, whatever happens, happens. We keep doing what we're doing and if something comes up and we have to burn something else down. We will. Now get, i need to do some stuff." he said, making a shooing motion with his hands.
"Yes sir," David said, not really sure he understood his leaders plans. He left the room and closed the door behind him.
11a.m. --the farm
Luke was sitting at the kitchen table and alternating sipping coffee and staring at the table cloth. He didn't notice when Daisy came up beside him.
"Luke, honey. Everything is going to be ok." she told him as she put a hand on his shoulder.
Luke didn't answer her for a long moment, and Daisy began to wonder if he had heard her at all. "I wish i could believe that." he finally said.
"Luke, " Daisy protested
Luke looked at her. He could tell she was upset and he knew he shouldn't have said that. "I'm sorry Daisy," he apoligized and stood up and hugged her.
They had just pulled away, when Uncle Jesse walked in from outside, he looked weary and old. Wordlessly, Luke walked over to him and gave him a hug, Daisy soon joined them and they staid that way for several long minutes.
9:30p.m. --town
Frank, with Bo in tow and several other people were creeping around the alleyways of Hazzard. They were trying to avoid the feds as they went about there business.
"Never thought you'd be doing this, eh Duke." Frank said
Bo didn't answer, makeing Frank angry.
"You know if it weren't for my dad wanting you around, i'd have gotten rid of you a long time ago." Frank told him, trying to get a rise out of him.
Bo wasn't biting. He ignored Frank and remained silent.
Suddenly there was a noise and everyone stopped and pulled out guns, however Bo didn't, he didn't have one. A cat jumped out from behind a couple of trash cans and ran from the alley, scaring everyone.
This time Bo said something. "Noone wonder it was scared. It must have seen Frank and thought he was a monster."
Everyone laughed, except Frank, who advanced on Bo angrily. He raised his gun and aimed it at Bo. Bo backed up a step.
"Frank, don't. You know what your father will say." one of the men told him. It was Bill from several nights ago.
Frank didnt' say anything, he pulled the safety back and at the last second aimed the gun at a brick wall and fired.
"Shit Frank!!! They'll be on to us for sure now." Bill exclaimed.
Frank grunted "Let's get out of here." he said and took off back to the car, pulling Bo along with him. Everyone else followed close behind him. Suddenly there way was blocked by an FBI agent.
"Alright, hold it. Throw down your weapons, and put your hands in the air."
Frank went to put his weapon down, but in one fluid movement he came back up firing his gun. Several bullets hit the agent and the agent fell to the ground. Bo stared in horror at the agent's bullet ridden body.
"Lets get out of here, before there all on to us, " Frank said, giving the dead agent no second thought. As they were about to leave he reached into his pocket, took something out and dropped it by the dead man. Noone else saw him do it.
They came to the entrance to alleyway, where they had left two of there cars. They could here several voices in the street as they jumped into their cars. Frank cranked the car up and put the pedal to the floor. Busting out onto the street, he hit an agent that was in the way. Amongst a rain of bullets, Frank and the other car behind him managed to make it out of the city. Their was a short pursuit, but they quickly lost the agents on their tail. After making sure the coast was clear, they continued on to the swamp.
10:45p.m. Tri-County Hospital.
Luke walked in the front door of the main hospital area and was met by Richard, who wasn't exactly happy.
"Are Jesse and Daisy with you?" he asked by way of greeting.
"No, they stayed at home." Luke answered him
"Good. I don't want them to know about this right now."
"What happened?" Luke asked, his voice sounding anxious.
Richard sighed loudly and ran a hand through his hair. "There was a brief shootout in town about an hour ago. One of my men was killed and another is still in surgery." he told Luke
"I'm sorry about your agents, but what does this have to do with me?" Luke asked
Richard held up a plastic bag. It contained what looked to be a cover for a pocket knife. "This might" he said
Luke took the bag. "Can I," he asked indicating if he could open it. Richard nodded.
Taking it out of the bag. He looked at the cover for a second and with unsteady hands, he unsnapped the cover. Luke took the knife out and flipped it over, hoping he wasn't going to find what he knew was there. Sure enough, the side of the knife had Bo's name on it.
"Bo," Luke said softly.
Richard took the knife from him and looked at it and then looke up at the now shaken Luke. "If he indeed killed my man, then he's in as deep of trouble as this gang is."
Luke shook his head. "He couldn't have," he said.
Just then another agent walked up to them and briefly spoke in Richards ear. Richard nodded and the man moved off.
"That remains to be seen Luke." Richard said and added "I know Bo couldn't have done it under normal surcumstances, but these arent' normal surcumstances."
"But," Luke started to say, but Richard cut him off.
"Look, Luke. I'm sorry, but i have to go. We can talk again later." Richard said and moved off, leaving a distraught Luke behind him.
About the same time--swamp
"What in the hell just happened in town?" James asked the group as soon as they came in the door.
Frank grinned. "Oh, you've already heard. I'ts not a big deal," he said.
James looked somewhat angry. "You killed another fed and wounded the other." he said.
Frank grinned again. "That's were your wrong, Dad."
James raised an eyebrow
Frank at his father and then at Bo. "I didn't kill him, country boy here, did."
Bo stared at him, hoping he just didn't hear that. " What?" he finally said.
"How did you manage that?" David asked from where he stood beside james.
Frank pointed at Bo. "That pocket knife he had to begin with. Well i had it and when i shot the guy, i left it beside him. So i implicated Bo in his murder.
James and David were somewhat impressed, Bo however was wishing he could get his hands on Frank.
Frank came to stand in front of Bo. "That means, Duke. That you are involved in this as much as we are. That also means, that if we get caught, then you go down with us." frank told him, gloating.
"Hey big brother, what about the gun? It does after all have your prints on it." Jennifer said
Frank looked from Bo to his sister and back again. "That's easily corrected," he said snidly
Bo couldn't stand it any longer. With his right fist, he hit Frank in the stomach. Frank didn't even so much as flinch. With an evil smile on his face and before Bo could move away, he took hold of Bo's arm and threw him to the ground. As Bo lay on his back, Frank knelt down beside him.
"Do that again hick and you won't be so lucky the next time," he said and got up.
The fight was over, but it unfortunatly promised of more to come.
